Mental Health

Mental health is just as if not more important as physical health. If you’re struggling with mental health then it’ll be even harder to get active and moving. To improve your mental health you need to find out or have an idea of what the cause is. There are many things that can affect your mental health that pretty much everyone does everyday. One is social media. Most of us use this everyday. Social media creates problems because people, especially teens communicate more electronically than through human contact, which is not satisfying. To be disconnected from human communication means you aren’t getting the benefits of it. To help calm yourself down, try yoga, talk to someone, write it down and check your diet.

Skincare

Health is more than exercising and eating healthy. Being clean and taking care of your skin is very important. not being clean and not taking care of your skin in the way it needs can affect how you feel and look very much, yet most people don’t have a proper skin care routine! A lot goes into having the right skincare routine for you. Everyone has different types of skin. Sensitive, dry, oily, combination. Everyone also has different problems with their skin. For example, acne, dark spots, wrinkles, redness, rosacea, eczema, etc. So it’s important you find the right products for your face. The most common facial problems are acne and breakouts. There are many medications and creams people can take or use to cure or treat their acne. In my experience, i’ve struggled with acne my entire life until about a year ago i decided to go see a dermatologist. He prescribed me a pill called spironolactone, it helps treat acne. It didn’t help me at all but he said to wait to make sure. Once we decided that wasn’t doing anything for me, he gave me a cream which didn’t help me either! I began to get frustrated, but  I know a lot of people going through this also struggles with finding products that help. What you need is a face wash that has no ceramides and contain hyaluronic acid. Try to stay away from face washes/ moisturizers that has no harsh chemicals like salicylic acid, as that can dry out your face tremendously. Face lotions that contain salicylic acid isn’t bad, just make sure its a low percentage and that it doesn’t hurt your face. But I would still say to refrain from it. Here is the routine you need to follow: wash face 2x everyday, morning and night. After you wash your face, you need to restore the moisture, so moisturize. That step is very important. ALWAYS MOISTURIZE. Then, when you’re drying off your face, PAT not RUB. You don’t want wrinkles do you? You also need to put lotion all over your body after you shower and before bed. Try finding a orange or peppermint essential oil to put in your morning lotion to wake you up! And find lavender, chamomile or ylang- ylang in your nighttime one to fall asleep. Good luck in your skincare adventures!

Food

Food is our main source of energy. If you don’t eat healthy or the wrong amount, then that on its own can impact your health negatively. let’s get one thing straight about food, specifically in fruits and vegetables: they contain pesticides. Pesticides chemicals used to keep bugs, germs, and rodents away from the crops. High levels of pesticides found in food can cause diseases such as cancer, kidney and lung ailments. And children are prone to catching diseases and infections but if they eat food with high levels of pesticides can lead to childhood cancers, mental health problems such as autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.  Pesticides cannot be removed with water. Instead, use vinegar to clean your food because it gets rid of 98% of the pesticides. People should be eating 3 meals a day plus a snack. And you drink half of your body weight in ounces. Drinking enough water is a crucial step in being healthy. To get rid of cravings, you could try infusing your water with lemon, strawberries, mint and so much more! Yoga

Stress and mental health can take a big negative toll on your health. And I can tell you from experience that it’s sometimes very hard to realize how much it can impact your life. But I will get more into that later. You can’t live healthy if your mind isn’t healthy. Yoga and meditation is one of many stress relieving activities that keeps your body moving. there are many different yoga poses to help with certain troubles in your life. Each individual pose releases energy from where your tension is. If your stress is in your neck and you feel tightness there, you need a yoga pose to release that energy that brings you down. An example of a pose that helps with this is a forward bend. A forward bend is keeping your legs straight and bending at your hips so your head is at your knees. Next you lock your fingers and put your arms straight behind you. This pose helps with breathing, so if your stressed and on the verge of panic, this pose could help you calm down in a tough situation like that.  It also helps with shoulder tension, releasing the hamstring and thigh muscles. Happy yogaing!

Workouts

Do you want to be active and get exercise but get bored with runs, sit ups and push ups? No worries! Here are some tips and exercises to get your body moving and having fun while doing it! The first thing I recommend is to get in the right mindset. You WANT to workout and you WANT to be healthy. If you don’t want anything to do with working out and have to force yourself to even get on workout clothes, then this will probably be very challenging for you. I say you should sit down and drink a big glass of lemon water and get into the mindset that working out is going to take only about an hour out of your day and the benefits are huge. Here are some benefits to working out: weight loss, feeling happier, more energy, helps your memory, improves confidence and much more! I struggle with boring workouts, so, how I pushed through this is to think of my own hands on, creative workout. And this is what I came up with.  Playgrounds are meant for kids to run around on, burn some energy and get active. But who says adults can’t use this too? My workout is: walking to the nearest playground, running up the ladder, running to the slide and going down it, then running to the next structure (rock wall, stairs, ladder, etc.) and repeating every structure three times. This may seem a little weird, but it works. And it’s very fun. Hope it works for you!
